Father Charles W. Harman
Father Harman was the second Chaplain of Father Emil Kapaun council. According to the History of the Council, he was an Associate priest at St. Jerome parish. He was appointed Chaplain in May 1954 and served until September 1960, when he was reassigned to a parish in Orange County. During his years of service, he gave inspiring speeches to the council on matters of Faith and against Communism while pacing around the small American Legion meeting room. He was also a member of the council bowling team.
The funeral Mass for Father Charles W. Harman was celebrated at Good Shepherd Church in Beverly Hills on March 16th. There were three Sir Knights who turned out for the Color Corps in his honor. His brother Gerald Harman requested that the Color Guard stand casket watch before the Mass. Bishop Sartoris was the main celebrant of the Mass, with about 24 priests concelebrating, many of them from his ordination class. The service was most inspiring, and the eulogy recalled the dedicated service of a loyal servant of God. May he enjoy the reward of his labors.
